Zipline Expands U.S. Operations with Cleveland Clinic Home Delivery and Austin Launch
Drone delivery leader recruits senior operators from Tesla, Waymo and Uber as its marketplace grows 13-fold in the first half of 2026.
Zipline announced on July 13, 2026, the next phase of its U.S. expansion, which includes upcoming launches in Cleveland and Austin, new leadership hires from Tesla, Waymo, and Uber, and a 13-fold increase in the number of businesses offering delivery through the Zipline app during the first half of 2026. The South San Francisco company reports it has completed over 2.5 million commercial deliveries, including reaching its one-millionth delivery milestone in 2024. Zipline now operates more flights per day than major U.S. airlines, with approximately 70 percent of its flights taking place in the United States. All flights are fully autonomous under FAA BVLOS authorization.
First U.S. Healthcare Home Delivery with Cleveland Clinic
In July, Zipline will launch its first U.S. healthcare home delivery service in partnership with Cleveland Clinic, starting in the Beachwood suburb of Cleveland. Eligible patients will have the option to receive certain prescription deliveries at home at no additional cost. The program is expected to expand over time to include lab samples, medically tailored meals, medical and surgical supplies, and hospital-at-home materials transported between Cleveland Clinic facilities. This launch builds on the home delivery platform that Zipline introduced in 2023.
Additionally, Zipline plans to launch in Austin, where customers will be able to order food and retail deliveries from local businesses through the Zipline app.
Marketplace Grows 13-Fold in Six Months
The Zipline app now features national brands such as Chipotle alongside local favorites like Anothai Cuisine in Houston and Amelia’s Cocina Mexicana in Rowlett. Recently, Wonder announced it will utilize Zipline delivery at 50 upcoming Texas food halls, while Little Caesars is expanding its delivery service from five locations to 65 in the coming months. The expansion of the consumer marketplace complements Zipline’s ongoing retail rollout with Walmart in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which continues to grow across Texas. New businesses are reportedly signing up every week.
Three New Executives to Scale Operations
Zipline has appointed three new executives to enhance its operations:
- Sendil Palani joins as chief financial officer after 17 years at Tesla, where he served as vice president of finance.
- Kevin Vosen joins as chief legal officer, previously serving nearly seven years in the same role at Waymo.
- Allen Penn joins as head of commercial, having previously played a key role in Uber’s expansion across Asia.
Palani expressed enthusiasm about joining Zipline, highlighting the opportunity to contribute to a mission that aims to save and improve lives globally. Vosen noted the company’s commitment to making its services accessible to communities worldwide while maintaining a strong safety record.
A Decade of Results
Zipline reports that it has saved over 60,000 lives, with medical deliveries currently aiding in the preservation of more than 12,000 lives annually. The company cites a 22 percent reduction in childhood deaths from severe malnutrition and a 51 percent reduction in maternal mortality in the regions it serves. Zipline has flown over 135 million commercial autonomous miles and delivered 20 million items without any safety incidents. Some of its aircraft have flown more than one million miles, in contrast to the average U.S. car, which typically travels around 150,000 miles over its lifetime. The P2 home-delivery platform is central to the current network.
