DJI Introduces Mic Mini 2 Available in Ten Faceplate Colors

DJI Unveils Mic Mini 2 with New Features and Color Options

DJI has officially launched the Mic Mini 2, a second-generation wireless microphone, ahead of its global reveal scheduled for April 28. The product was briefly listed on DJI’s Hong Kong website, confirming its specifications and features, including five configurations and ten interchangeable magnetic faceplate colors.

Color Customization with Magnetic Faceplates

The Mic Mini 2 features a neutral base shell, allowing users to customize the microphone’s appearance with interchangeable magnetic faceplates. The available colors include vibrant options such as hot pink, yellow, lavender, and teal. Each retail bundle comes with two faceplates—one black and one white—while the top-tier configuration includes all ten colors. This allows creators to easily switch faceplates based on their shooting needs.

Configurations and Pricing Structure

DJI has introduced five configurations for the Mic Mini 2, with a pricing structure that is lower than its predecessor, the original Mic Mini. The configurations include:

  • Standalone Mic Mini 2 transmitter
  • Basic kit with one transmitter and one receiver
  • Mobile-oriented version with a transmitter, mobile receiver, and charging case
  • Mid-tier bundle with two transmitters, one mobile receiver, and a charging case
  • Top-tier kit with two transmitters, a standard receiver, a charging case, and all ten faceplate colors

Compared to the original Mic Mini, which launched in November 2024, the Mic Mini 2 offers a more affordable entry point for users.

Audio Features and Enhancements

The Mic Mini 2 retains core audio specifications from its predecessor, including 48 kHz 24-bit audio, automatic anti-clipping, and two-level noise cancellation. Battery life remains consistent, with up to 11.5 hours for the transmitter and 10.5 hours for the receiver, extending to 48 hours with a fully charged case. A notable addition is the inclusion of three voice tone presets: Normal, Bright, and Rich, allowing users to tailor their audio output without needing post-production equalization.

Market Positioning and Availability Concerns

DJI is positioning the Mic Mini 2 as a lifestyle product aimed at a broader audience, including content creators and small business owners. The pricing strategy and customizable faceplates are designed to appeal to users who prioritize aesthetics alongside functionality. However, there are concerns regarding the availability of the Mic Mini 2 in the U.S. market, as previous models have faced regulatory challenges. The Mic Mini 2S variant was recently removed from the FCC database, raising questions about the standard Mic Mini 2’s release in the U.S.

As DJI continues to expand its audio product line, the Mic Mini 2 represents a significant shift towards catering to a more diverse consumer base, while also addressing competitive pressures in the wireless microphone market.
