Autonomous Drone Security Implemented at 150 MW Ta’anakh Solar Project
High Lander Partners with Israeli Ministry of Energy for Drone Security
High Lander, a provider of drone fleet management and Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) software, has entered into an agreement with Israel’s Ministry of Energy to enhance security for solar infrastructure at the Ta’anakh project. This initiative will involve the implementation of autonomous drone technology to monitor and protect the solar facility.
Details of the Ta’anakh Project
The Ta’anakh project, located in the southern Jezreel Valley, boasts an installed capacity of 150 megawatts, generating approximately 310 gigawatt-hours of clean electricity annually. This output is significant, as it powers tens of thousands of households, making the continuous operation and security of the site a national priority.
High Lander will provide software for autonomous fleet operations, real-time aerial monitoring, and managed airspace coordination. The project is led by G1 Group, which oversees physical security and tactical field response, while Cando Drones serves as the operational supplier for the aerial deployment.
Benefits of Autonomous Drone Security
Autonomous drones will complement existing ground patrols, enhancing situational awareness and reducing response times. This technology allows for continuous monitoring of the expansive site, shifting the focus of critical infrastructure protection from manpower-intensive methods to more efficient, software-driven systems.
- Improved situational awareness
- Reduced response times
- Continuous monitoring capabilities
According to Alon Abelson, CEO and co-founder of High Lander, the agreement reflects confidence in advanced technological capabilities and addresses the urgent need for enhanced security measures for national energy assets.
24/7 Autonomous Protection
The autonomous drone system can be deployed within 15 seconds of an alert, integrating with smart fencing and sensors to provide real-time visibility and incident response. This capability allows security teams to conduct aerial inspections without solely relying on ground patrols.
High Lander’s Orion DFM platform facilitates mission management from a centralized interface, enabling automated patrols and coordination with ground teams. Additionally, the Vega UTM platform, approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel, manages airspace operations with certified operators overseeing a manned flight center.
