ABZ Innovation Expands Manufacturing Capabilities
ABZ Innovation, a Hungarian company specializing in the production of spraying drones, is experiencing significant growth as it prepares to open a new manufacturing facility. The company plans to inaugurate a 1,060-square-meter factory in Szentendre, near Budapest, in September. This facility will significantly increase ABZ’s manufacturing capacity, allowing for the production of approximately 1,000 drones annually once fully operational.
New Facility Details
The new factory is expected to reach 50 percent capacity by the end of the year, producing around 85 drones per month. When fully operational, it will employ 40 to 45 staff members and is projected to manufacture about 2,000 drones each year. Forbes has recognized this facility as “Europe’s largest ‘civilian’ drone factory.”
Recent Developments and Partnerships
ABZ has recently formed a partnership with Swiss software company Pix4D, aimed at enhancing the precision of its agricultural spray drones. This collaboration will enable farmers to optimize crop yields by tailoring the application of fertilizers and pesticides based on specific needs.
Introduction of the ABZ Clean Station
In June, ABZ launched the ABZ Clean Station, designed specifically for industrial cleaning operations using drones. This station works in conjunction with the C10 cleaning drone, providing the necessary water pressure and solution-mixing capabilities for effective cleaning at heights of nearly 200 feet.
Regulatory Approval for U.S. Market
Additionally, ABZ’s L50 drone received conditional approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), allowing it to be sold and operated in the United States. This approval indicates that the L50 does not pose a risk to national security, facilitating ABZ’s expansion into the U.S. market.
Technological Advancements in Agriculture
The partnership with Pix4D allows ABZ to offer data-driven solutions for agricultural challenges. Farmers can input crop data into the drone’s software, which processes this information to determine the most effective spraying methods, targeting only affected areas rather than treating entire fields.
ABZ Clean Station’s Industrial Capabilities
The ABZ Clean Station enhances the C10 drone’s ability to clean various surfaces, including high-rise buildings and solar installations. It features a high-pressure system and a multi-stage water treatment process to ensure optimal cleaning results.
Future Growth Prospects
CEO Karoly Luvigh emphasized that ABZ’s European base positions the company well to grow in its primary markets, the U.S. and the EU, especially as demand increases for alternatives to Chinese-made drones. He noted that ABZ’s pricing and technology are competitive with those of leading manufacturers.
Luvigh highlighted the significance of the L50’s inclusion on the FCC’s conditional approval list, stating that it distinguishes ABZ in the U.S. market, where few other spraying drones are available.
