Autonomous Drone Solution Enhances Efficiency and Coverage in Rugged Terrain

JOUAV, a manufacturer of industrial unmanned aerial systems (UAS), has partnered with the Guangxi Power Supply Bureau to launch China’s first “Fixed + Mobile” UAS autonomous system for power grid operations. This solution sets a new standard in power line inspections by improving while lowering costs.

Expanding Coverage with Autonomous Drone Operations

The system integrates five JOUAV JOS-C800 VTOL hangars and two CW-15V drones to tackle the challenges of inspecting power lines in mountainous areas. The CW-15V drones operate within a 50-kilometer radius and can fly for up to three hours per mission. By “hopping” between hangars for recharging, the drones sustain continuous operations without human intervention. This approach enables seamless coverage of up to 15,000 square kilometers through remote-controlled, automated flights.

Real-Time Monitoring and Emergency Response

The autonomous system reduces human involvement while maintaining precise and consistent monitoring. By linking multiple drones and docking stations to a centralized control system, the solution allows operators to oversee power grid infrastructure with minimal effort. Real-time data transmission helps detect potential issues quickly, strengthening response capabilities.

Beyond routine inspections, the system plays a critical role in emergency situations. The drones, equipped with high-resolution 4K video and LiDAR technology, provide damage assessments within hours—a significant improvement compared to traditional inspection methods that take days.
