Operation Flytrap is the Army’s initiative to speed the development of scalable counter-UAS technologies. The program uses live soldier testing, fast acquisition options, and transition support to bring new solutions into operational units.

MatrixSpace Demonstrates Expeditionary Radar Capabilities

At the event, MatrixSpace showcased its Expeditionary AI Radar and its 360 AI Radar. Both systems run on the company’s AiEdge . The radars offer fast deployment and simple integration into the Army’s FAAD-C2 system through the NATO-standard SAPIENT protocol. Together, they provide real-time situational awareness at the tactical edge.

Four companies received awards this year. Each will receive $350,000 and be placed into the new Global Tactical Edge Acquisition Directorate (G-TEAD) Marketplace. This placement is designed to make procurement easier for U.S. and NATO partners that need counter-UAS tools.

Matthew Kling, VP & GM, AI Systems at MatrixSpace, said, “Operation Flytrap 4.5 gave us a powerful opportunity to show MatrixSpace’s tactical advantage. Our ultra-low SWaP-C radars with AiEdge integrate effortlessly into existing Army C2 networks and deliver dependable, soldier-ready airspace .”

Portable Radar Designed for Demanding Environments

MatrixSpace radar systems focus on affordable, all-weather detection and classification. The systems support airspace, perimeter, and object monitoring. These features help organizations build situational awareness in contested environments, where reliability and mobility can shape mission success.

The company specializes in compact, low-power radar tools that can move quickly from one location to another. These capabilities support counter-drone missions for defense, public safety, and commercial users.
