We’re all refreshing the rumor sites, analyzing leaked photos, and generally driving ourselves crazy with anticipation for the DJI Mini 5 Pro. But it turns out, we’re not the only ones who can’t wait.

Let’s be honest, it’s easy to see why a company like Freewell is so eager. The DJI Mini series is, without a doubt, one of the best ideas DJI ever had. I remember when I bought the first one. I was flying the legendary Mavic 2 Pro at the time, and my other drone was an Inspire 1, so you can imagine how I felt about tiny drones. But when I flew that first Mini, one thing came to mind: this is pure FUN.
With every generation, the Mini has evolved from a fun toy into a serious professional tool, all while staying under that magic 249-gram weight limit. The Mini 3 Pro, which I used to shoot commercials for brands like Porsche and BMW, proved that you don’t need a giant drone to get giant results.
The rumors for the Mini 5 Pro—a 1-inch sensor, better batteries, and more—suggest that this next evolution will be the biggest leap yet. The entire industry is holding its breath. I am holding my breath and getting my money ready. And apparently, the team at Freewell is so excited that they just couldn’t hold it in any longer. We can’t blame them; we feel the same way!
