Teledyne FLIR OEM Launches Lepton XDS Dual Thermal-Visible Camera Module

Compact MSX-Enabled System Targets Rapid OEM Integration Across Embedded and Industrial Applications

Teledyne FLIR OEM has introduced the Lepton® XDS, a compact dual thermal and visible module, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The new module brings the company’s patented MSX® imaging technology into a small, OEM-ready format. The company says the product is built for space- and power-limited systems.

Lepton XDS combines a 160 × 120 radiometric Lepton 3.5 micro-thermal sensor with a five-megapixel visible . The system overlays visible image edges directly onto the thermal scene in real time. This process sharpens detail and improves context for users.

The company states that this approach delivers performance often linked with higher-resolution systems.

The module is ITAR-free and designed for global commercial deployment. Teledyne FLIR says the system reduces development risk and shortens time to market for embedded and mobile applications.

MSX Technology in a Compact OEM Module

According to the company, the Lepton XDS expands access to MSX imaging in smaller devices.

“MSX technology has long been a defining advantage of Teledyne FLIR, and with Lepton XDS, we are making that capability accessible in a compact, OEM-ready module,” said Mike Walters, vice president of product management, Teledyne FLIR OEM. “By combining a visible camera, a proven micro-thermal sensor, onboard Prism ISP processing, and direct access to radiometric overlays—including spot meters and regions of interest—we’re accelerating and enabling OEMs to deliver clearer thermal imagery for faster user interpretation.”

The module supports fire detection and prevention, EV battery monitoring, navigation, unmanned systems, smart infrastructure, and health and safety applications.

By embedding visible edges into thermal imagery, the system helps users identify objects and temperature differences more quickly. This can support faster decisions in industrial and mobile environments.

Prism ISP Expands Imaging and Measurement Tools

The Lepton XDS includes the integrated FLIR Prism ISP software platform. The company says this software provides real-time image enhancement beyond MSX overlay.

Prism ISP supports thermal-visible fusion and advanced image processing. It also introduces radiometric JPEG output. The RJPEG format allows users to retain temperature data within captured images.

The system includes built-in measurement and visualization tools. These tools support regions of interest, spot temperature readings, isotherms, and customizable color palettes.

The module integrates with the Teledyne FLIR OEM software ecosystem for analysis, post-processing, and reporting.

Designed for Scalable Deployment

The Lepton XDS is optimized for size, weight, and power. An industry-standard USB output supports integration into battery-powered and always-on systems.

The module is classified under ECCN 6A003.b.4.b. Its ITAR-free status enables global commercial availability.

Teledyne FLIR OEM reports that it has delivered more than four million Lepton modules to date. The company states that its global technical services and high-volume systems support scalable production and help reduce supply chain risk.

Teledyne FLIR OEM will display the Lepton XDS at Mobile World Congress, March 2-5, 2026, in Barcelona.
